Bryson DeChambeau moves into top 8 following win at the Memorial

Bryson DeChambeau elevated himself from 13th to eighth in the U.S. Ryder Cup Team standings after his victory at the Memorial Tournament last weekend, as he nearly doubled his point total while earning his second-career PGA Tour win. He now is in position to be an automatic qualifier if he can stay in the top eight.

DeChambeau finished 15-under for the tournament, securing the win over Byeong Hun An and Kyle Stanley following a two-hole playoff. Stanley, however, was the biggest mover in the U.S. Ryder Cup Team standings, jumping 19 spots from 36th to 17th with his second-place finish.

Eleven of the top 12 golfers in the U.S. Ryder Cup Team standings maintained their positioning inside the top 12 as Aaron Wise was the only golfer to drop out. He fell one spot to 13th.

The top five golfers in the standings remained in the same order, led by Masters champion Patrick Reed, followed by Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka. Rickie Fowler improved one spot to sixth, flipping positions with Bubba Watson. DeChambeau leap-frogged Phil Mickelson, Webb Simpson, Matt Kuchar, Brian Harman and Wise.

In addition to Stanley, only one other golfer cracked the top 25 this week as Ryan Moore climbed from 29th to 25th. DeChambeau, Stanley and Moore are the only golfers in the top 25 whose standing changed by more than two spots from the previous week.

U.S. players will continue to gain points in 2018 at every non-opposite PGA Tour event, WGC and major through the 100th PGA Championship at Bellerive, concluding on August 12, 2018.

At that time, Captain Jim Furyk will have his first eight players -- automatic qualifiers.

The four remaining slots on the U.S. Team will be Captain's Selections. Three selections will be announced by Captain Jim Furyk following the Dell Technologies Championship scheduled to be completed on Sept. 3, 2018, and the final selection will be announced after the BMW Championship, which is slated to be completed on Sept. 9, 2018.

Here's how players will earn points in 2018.
