This two foot putt on the final hole at The Belfry would see Cañizares defeat Ken Green by one hole and give Europe a 14 - 10 lead – meaning the Ryder Cup would be staying in Europe’s possession.

It was just as well the Spaniard was able to get a win in this match, as Europe went on to lose the final four matches to see the final score 14-14.

The six time European Tour winner was no stranger to pressure by this point, having rubber stamped Europe’s first victory over the USA in 28 years at the 1985 Ryder Cup.
